Hippo examines the coming of age of two half-siblings: Hippo, a teenager addicted to video games, and Buttercup, a Hungarian Catholic immigrant with a passion for classical music and Jesus. Like Aphrodite in ancient Greece, Buttercup’s love is unrequited by a brother who prefers to indulge in the art of war and mayhem. The result is a tragicomic, hormone-fueled waking nightmare that has to be seen to be believed.
